Avon and Somerset Police say they have begun a murder investigation after a man was found dead in Hengrove earlier this week.

Officers say they were first called to a house in Parsons Paddock at 9am on Tuesday (October 11) to reports of a disturbance.

A man in his 40s was given CPR at the scene and was taken to hospital but did not survive.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

"We are currently investigating the circumstances of his death and a forensic post-mortem examination will now take place to determine how the man died," a statement from Avon and Somerset Police reads.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Mark Newbury said: "The man's next of kin have been informed and they're being supported at this difficult time and our thoughts and sympathies are with them.

"We are conducting further enquiries at the scene."

We are told a cordon is in place at the scene and officers are carrying out house to house enquires as they investigate what happened.

"While we believe this is an isolated incident, additional reassurance patrols are being carried out by the Neighbourhood Policing team," DI Newbury said.

Anyone who knows anything about what happened in this case is asked to call the police on 101 and quote the reference number 5222245257.
