Man pleads not guilty to Charfield murder

A man charged with the murder of another man from South Gloucestershire has pleaded not guilty at Bristol Crown Court today (Monday, 25 July).

Police and ambulance crews were called to an address in Thames Close, Charfield, at around 11pm on 24 June, following reports of an assault.

The victim, 40-year-old local man Marcus Dunkerton, was injured in the assault and sadly died at the scene.

Another man, identified as 46-year-old Grant Bradley from Kidderminster, was arrested by police shortly after, at around 11:30pm.

A post-mortem examination found that Mr Dunkerton was stabbed several times with one wound proving fatal.

Mr Bradley has been charged with the murder of Marcus Dunkerton and with possession of an offensive weapon.

Appearing via a video link at Bristol Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing this morning, Mr Bradley - who's currently in custody - spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and plea. He pleaded not guilty to both counts.

A provisional date has been set for his trial, which is due to begin on 3 December 2022.
