A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after five separate incidents in Bedminster Down in Bristol.

Two were reported last week in the King’s Head Lane Park area, following previous cases in March and April.

On top of those, a 15-year-old girl was followed suspiciously by a man in the Headley Park Avenue area on Friday afternoon (May 20).

The man stopped following her when she called a family member and the incident was reported to the police by the girl's mother the next day.

Officers say the man, who is 27, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning (May 22) by plain clothed officers patrolling in the area in response to the incidents.

Other incidents include an 18-year-old woman reporting being grabbed by a man on Sandburrows Road on Wednesday May 18 and a woman in her 30s being touched while jogging at around 5am on the same Friday that the 15-year-old was followed.

Officers have apologised to the woman who reported being assaulted on the Wednesday as she was not interviewed until Saturday (May 21).

"A private apology has been made for the delay in seeing her and we would like to publicly express our apologies too," a statement from Avon and Somerset Police reads.

Detectives are now keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any of these incidents, or other victims who may not have come forward.

If you have any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area at the time or any other relevant information, you're asked to call 101 and quote the reference number 5222119305.
