Man arrested after fatal fall from Bristol flats
A woman was pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning
A man has been arrested after a woman died falling from a block of flats in Easton.
It happened just before 12:30am this morning (Tuesday 19 April) at Lansdowne Court.
Avon and Somerset Police were called by a member of the public and found a woman at the base of the building with serious injuries.
Emergency first aid was carried out but she could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connected with the incident; officers say he knew the victim.
Chief Inspector Deepak Kenth said: “A full investigation has already begun and our priority will be to establish how and why this terrible incident happened.
“We’re in the process of notifying the woman’s next of kin and they’ll be given the full support of specialist family liaison officers.
“This is a close-knit community and we know a tragedy like this will cause a great deal of concern among those living nearby."
Extra patrols will now be carried out in the area to help reassure those living nearby.
