Increased police presence in St Paul's after death of 19-year-old

Residents in the St Paul's area of Bristol are being to expect an increased police presence, after the death of a 19-year-old late on Friday night.

Emergency services were called around 11pm on 21st July to reports of a young man found seriously injured.

The teenager died before reaching hospital.

A forensic post-mortem concluded that he died as a result of knife wounds.

Formally identification is yet to take place, but police say they're supporting the family of a 19-year-old from St Paul's following the death.

We're told that a teenager arrested near the scene on Friday night has been eliminated from the murder investigation, but has been charged with an unrelated offence of possessing an offensive weapon.

Initial forensic investigations of the scene have now concluded and police are thanking the community who were affected by closures for their patience and understanding.

Bristol West MP Thangam Debbonaire are encouraging people with information about what happened to contact police.

Police say there will still be a police presence in St Paul's as the investigation continues - with uniformed officers expected to patrol the area, as a point of contact for the community.
