A Grand Iftar will be held in Bristol today (March 28) to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Under the theme: Embracing "Hope and Peace" Together, the event will see Muslims come together to break their fast with non-Muslims invited to join as well.

Organisers Muslims4Bristol says the event aims to bring people together to celebrate Bristol’s cultural diversity.

Every year, Muslims across the world observe Ramadan in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, where they fast, pray, reflect, and observe community fellowship.

Since 2017, the Grand Iftar has been held in Bristol as a symbol of community cohesion and peace.

“Each year, we explore different themes such as sustainability, women in Islam, and sanctuary, fostering dialogue and understanding,” Muslims4Bristol said.

Today’s Iftar will begin at 6pm on St Marks Road.
