Part of the M4 near Bristol is going to close overnight every weekday this month.

National Highways say the Pilning interchange at junction 22, right by the Prince of Wales Bridge, will shut from around 10pm to 6am Monday to Friday, starting tonight (2 May) to allow for bridge joint repairs.

It's being done overnight for safety reasons as that is when traffic will be at its lowest.

"The road will be closed overnight from Tuesday 2nd May until Wednesday 31st May, weather permitting," a statement from National Highways reads.

A short diversion will be in place via the on/off slip roads.

Access to the Prince of Wales Bridge will be maintained at all times.

The interchange will remain open on the 17th, 26th and 29th, every bank holiday and during major shows in Cardiff, but there will be a 50mph speed restriction in place during the daytime.

Further updates will be available via this link or on National Highways' South West Twitter page.
