Police are currently at the scene of a single-vehicle collision in Broadmead, Bristol which is causing significant traffic disruption (26 September).

Drivers are facing delays in the city centre as traffic maps show congestion on the A4044 and Bond Street near Cabot Circus.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: "Queueing traffic due to accident on A4044 Bond Street Westbound between A4032 Newfoundland Street and A38 The Haymarket (St James Barton Roundabout)."

In a statement Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 5am to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Bond Street South, near Cabot Circus.

“Officers attended alongside the fire and ambulance services and have closed the A4044 between the Bearpit and Cabot Circus and the A4032 between the M32 and Cabot Circus.

“The vehicle collided with a traffic light which has affected all the traffic lights at the junction and the road closures are expected to remain in place for some time while engineers carry out repairs.

“Diversions are in place, but we would encourage motorists to avoid the area if possible.

“The driver of the vehicle has been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening nor life-changing.”
