Avon and Somerset Police say investigations continue into the murder of a teenager in Bristol, nearly eight months on from his death.

Eddie King Muthemba Kinuthia was 19 when he was stabbed near his own home on Grosvenor Road Triangle Park in St Pauls, late on Friday 21 July, 2023.

Officers have issued an update on the investigation as several more killings mean the city is increasingly asking how to stop such violence.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Almond, who leads the investigation, said: "It is incredibly hard for Irene and all Eddie's family that the enquiries into his death are yet to result in a positive outcome.

"We're still working very hard to identify and speak to potential witnesses and find that last detail, that piece of information which will bring the right person to justice."

Since Eddie's death, three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder, however none have been charged with a crime and all remain on police bail.

Earlier this month Eddie's mother Irene Muthemba held a vigil in Bristol city centre and on Thursday 14 March BBC’s Crimewatch Live will again feature the appeal.

"Eddie is not forgotten," DCI Almond said.

"He is in our hearts and minds every day, along with the family and friends who are suffering his loss.

"We know lots of people were out in the area that night.

"We know Eddie's death has had a profound impact on so many people, but our investigators are experienced in supporting people who have witnessed such traumatic events, alongside our victim and witness care teams.

"You may not think you have anything new to add, but please do tell us what you know."

Eddie's mum Irene recently held a vigil in his memory in Bristol city centre

In particular officers want to hear from anyone who:

  • spoke to Eddie on Friday 21 July (the day he was killed) either in person, by phone or via social media.
  • was in the Grosvenor Road area of St Paul's between 10pm and 11:30pm that night.
  • saw a black electric motorbike, possibly a Sur-Ron Light Bee electric trials bike, being ridden in the St Paul's or Easton area around that time, with either one or two riders.

This update comes just days after another person lost their life in a stabbing just metres from where Eddie was attacked.

On Wednesday (6 March) police announced a 30-year-old man had been killed, with a 43-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.

Meanwhile since the start of the year three other teenagers have lost their lives across Bristol; Max Dixon and Mason Rist in Knowle West and Darrian Williams, who was stabbed in Easton.
