Bristol police call for witnesses after "high value" burglary in broad daylight

An internal safe was ripped out of an elderly couple's home in Sneyd Park

Police are asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, to come forward

Police in Bristol are investigating after an elderly couple's home was robbed in broad daylight.

It happened last Friday (February 11) between 2:30pm and 3:30pm, while the couple in their 80s were out of their home in Sneyd Park.

During the burglary a safe was ripped out of an internal wall in the house on Sea Walls Road.

More than a dozen unique coins were taken including:

  • 2010 Royal Mint Britannia Four Coin Gold Proof Set. All coins contained a print of the Queen on the front of the coin, but had various prints on the reverse
  • 2007 Gold Proof Four Coin Sovereign Collection. The Queen was printed on the front of the coin, with various prints on the reverse
  • 2007 Britannia Collection Gold Proof Four Coin set. These four coins had a print of the Queen on the front of the coin, and Britannia on the reverse
  • King Edward VII Sovereign Coin – an individual gold coin, with a print of King Edward VII face on the front, and a reverse print
  • King George V Sovereign Coin – an individual gold coin, with a print of George V on the front, and unknown on the reverse

Other items were also stolen including valuable stamps and cash, but the exact value of it all has not been confirmed.

Avon and Somerset Police want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the burglary, or from anyone who has been offered any items matching the descriptions above.

They ask that you call 101 and quote the reference number 5222035192.
