BMA claims 'poor planning has left Weston exposed' during strikes
NHS bosses have responded saying: "We’ve been exploring all avenues"
Junior doctors have accused bosses at Weston General Hospital of 'poor planning'
It's after seven of those on strike there have had to return to work on the wards to help keep patients safe.
The NHS trust which runs the site has told us they've been 'exploring all avenues' to keep key services running.
But the British Medical Association has criticised their preparation
Union members are walking out until Saturday morning - as they call for a 30 per cent rise in pay to make up for years of under investment
The Government's called it unreasonable.
A spokesperson for Weston General said: “The safety of patients is our top priority.
"As part of our established operational planning for periods of industrial action we’ve been exploring all avenues for ensuring sufficient cover for key services over the course of the week.”
The British Medical Association tweeted: "Protecting patient safety during strikes has always been a priority to the BMA.
"However, poor planning by local management has left the Emergency Department and acute medicine at Weston General Hospital exposed."
