Avon and Somerset Police assaults rise

It's been called 'concerning'

Avon & Somerset Police Federation say there's been a 'concerning rise' in assaults on their officers.

New data released by the Office for National Statistics shows 1667 Avon & Somerset Police officers were assaulted on duty over the past year, which is 194 more than the previous 12 months.

Avon & Somerset Police Federation say the numbers are 'unacceptable'

Across England and Wales, there were just over 41,000 assaults on police officers in the year ending March 2022.
