A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court, charged with the murder of teenager Owen Dunn in Swindon.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, did not enter a plea and no application for bail was made.

He has been remanded into secure accommodation and will next appear at a pre-trial and preparation hearing at Bristol Crown Court, on February 24 next year.

Owen Dunn, who was 18, was fatally stabbed on Mazurek Way in the Haydon End area of North Swindon, at around 13:30 on December 4.

The 18-year-old's death has rocked the local community., with tributes pouring-in since.

More than £10,000 has been raised to support his family.

The boy charged with his murder has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, as well as possession of class A and B drugs.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker of the Major Crime Investigation Team at Wiltshire Police has previously said he sends his condolences to Owen's family and friends.

"I would also like to thank the local community for their patience and support over the last few days as this investigation has progressed, we fully appreciate the impact and concern this will have caused," he said last week.

Police are continuing to appeal for further information that can support their investigation.
