The platform at Dorset's Yetminster railway station has been resurfaced and improved.

The work by Great Western Railway is aimed at boosting accessibility for disabled passengers and those with pushchairs.

West Dorset MP Chris Loder has been lobbying GWR for the improvements to be carried out:

“I have always taken the accessibility of West Dorset’s railway stations incredibly seriously, and I am leaving no stone unturned when it comes to making sure every station is as user friendly as possible, which is why I am pleased that Great Western Railway has taken my concerns on board and acting on them.”

The station lies on the Heart of Wessex line, which has recently seen some 1950s tracks replaced in the Maiden Newton area, to improve links between Weymouth and Dorchester towards Yeovil.

Mr Loder said:

“I have undertaken a relentless campaign of lobbying for improvements to the Heart of Wessex line, especially from Yeovil to Dorchester. I am pleased to see Network Rail taking this vital line seriously and are embarking on substantial improvements to enhance its service for rail users even more.”
