A man from Wimborne, who was arrested by Dorset Police's Rural Crime Team, after cloned keys were found in his vehicle, has now been further arrested for more offences.

Officers got reports of a 'suspicious vehicle' in the Shaftesbury area at around 6.00pm on Monday (2nd January).

That vehicle was then stopped in Matchams Lane in Hurn.

Two people were searched, with officers recovering a large quantity of cash, a baseball bat, cloned vehicle keys and equipment for reproducing the keys.

A 21-year-old man from Wimborne area was arrested at the scene, on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and going equipped for theft, as well as entering into or being concerned in the acquisition, retention, use or control of criminal property.

He's also been further arrested on suspicion of 11 non-dwelling burglaries and two fraud offences.

Those crimes are alleged to have taken place around Dorset between June and December 2022.

He's been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Sergeant Natalie Skinner, of Dorset Police’s Rural Crime Team, said:

“Officers have been working hard to compile evidence in relation to this series of offences and we continue to investigate any links with other reported crimes.”
