Weymouth Town Council's supported three local groups with their latest grant awards.

£2,700 has been given to Weymouth Foodbank to buy in fresh fruit and vegetables for the next six months.

They'll be distributed alongside the tins, packets and dried goods that go out in emergency food parcels.

Dentaid has received £2,500 to help provide improve oral healthcare in Weymouth, at a mobile unit at the Lantern Trust.

That funding will go towards running four clinics for next year.

£500 has gone to God’s Green Fingers (GGF), a voluntary project at Tumbledown.

That aims to create and develop more growing space to provide 50% more healthy, natural food and flowers to local food banks and distributors.

Their funding will also go towards seating for their quiet space to enable elderly and vulnerable people to sit at Tumbledown and enjoy their surroundings.

Cllr Colin Huckle from Weymouth Town Council said:

“Providing these grants to GGF’s Voluntary Project, Weymouth Food Bank and Dentaid will allow them to seek full potential towards helping others. The grants awarded by Weymouth Town Council demonstrate all the different organisations that can benefit from this funding.”
