A car's overturned and two people have needed hospital treatment following a two vehicle collision in Weymouth.

A blue Volkswagen Golf and a black Nissan Qashqai were involved just after 8.00am this morning (Friday 31st March) on Dorchester Road in Upwey.

The Golf flipped and firefighters were called out to help get the occupants out.

Two people taken to hospital are believed to have suffered injuries that aren't serious.

PC Jamie Ralphs, of Weymouth police, said:

“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.

“I would also like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything relevant on dashcam footage, as well as residents with home CCTV or doorbell camera footage that could assist our investigation.

“Finally, I appreciate this incident resulted in the closure of a busy road during the morning rush hour. The closure was absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while it was in place.”

The road was cleared at around 9.35am.
