Weymouth pub asking to make garden chalets permanent
They were added at the Red Lion during Covid for social distancing
Beach huts could become a permanent fixture in the grounds of a Weymouth town centre pub.
The Red Lion in Hope Street has applied for a permission for six moveable outdoor beach huts for customer use, which, if agreed, would allow permanent use.
The huts were first in place during the Covid period as a temporary measure and have remained for winter use, according to the pub, which now wants to retain them as a permanent feature.
In a row of four, with two adjacent on the Cove Passage side, the huts back onto two removable canopies on the Hope Square side of the pub.
The application to Dorset Council says the huts are lifted in and out of place using a fork lift vehicle which causes no damage to the surroundings.
Public comments on the application remain can be submitted to the local authority until March 20th.
