Weymouth: Former council offices site turned into temporary car park
The prime plot of land will eventually be redeveloped
A new car park built on the site of the former council headquarters in Weymouth has opened
The temporary parking at North Quay will be there for up to three years.
That will give planners time to work out how the prime harbourside land will be redeveloped.
The car park has space for 238 vehicles.
Around £800,000 was spent on demolishing the council offices, carrying out an archaeological excavation and converting the site into a car park.
The money has come from the government's levelling up fund.
North Quay car park has also been proposed as a possible drop off and collection point for Portland Port’s cruise ship coaches.
