A warning's been put out by the Met Office for some strong winds along the south coast, including Dorset, overnight into tomorrow morning (Tuesday 1st November).

We're expected to be battered by the tailend of a system that's been named Storm Claudio by French forecasters.

The yellow alert comes into effect from midnight, lasting to 8.00am on Tuesday.

But winds are set to pick up through this evening, leading up to that - that's coupled with some showers, which could be heavy at times.

What to expect

The Met Office has explained what the strong winds could bring:

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
