Tap on tickets are to be made available on First Wessex buses in Dorset for the first time.

That'll take contactless payments for trips without the need to ask the driver for a ticket.

Cards, phones, and watches can be used to start a journey, with passengers also needing to tap off, so the operator can work out the fare, based on the distance travelled.

The technology will become available to use on Sunday 1st December.

We can use a card, phone or watch to tap on to First Wessex services, and tap off when we leave the bus

James Eustace, Commercial Director for First Wessex, said:

“Tap on Tap off (TOTO) technology allows our customers ultimate flexibility. We’re delighted that everyone using our routes in Dorset and neighbouring routes in Somerset will now be able to benefit.

“With rising costs, we know bus travel is a cost effective way to get around. Whether customers use the bus every day, or only travel occasionally, TOTO ensures a quick and easy way to pay for their journey.”
