Police in Bournemouth are investigating two vehicle thefts and a series of road traffic collisions in the town this morning (Wednesday 25th January).

Officers got a report of a car being stolen in Craigmoor Avenue at around 8.09am - with a woman sustaining a foot injury in the incident.

It's understood that vehicle was then involved in a number of collisions on the A338 near the Cooper Dean roundabout.

The driver failed to stop at the scene and then ran away on foot.

Police were also alerted to the theft of a car in Tyrell Gardens at around 8.35am today, with the vehicle driven away in the direction of Jewell Road.

That vehicle was located on the A31, with a man arrested on suspicion of aggravated theft of a motor vehicle.

He's also been taken to hospital for treatment to some minor injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Bell, of Bournemouth CID, said:

“An investigation is underway into the incidents and I would urge any witnesses, or any motorists with relevant dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“I understand this caused a lot of traffic problems in the area and I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while road closures remain in place.”
