A Bournemouth photographer has captured some amazing images of a rare natural sight on the beach.

John Jennings discovered some goose barnacles clinging to a log that had been washed up on Sunday morning (8th January).

He's told us that he spotted them while cycling along the seafront near Boscombe Pier.

He said:

"I wasn't sure what it was at first but when I got closer they looked amazing and I had never seen anything like it before.

"I just feel very lucky to have come across them and got some nice shots!"

The goose barnacles aren't often washed up on the shore, but are thought to be a foodies' heavenly item in some cultures.
