Plans for artificial inland surf lagoon in Dorset
The lagoon would be built next to Avon Heath Country Park

An artificial surf lagoon is set to be built in Dorset.
The project off the A31 at St Leonards, next to Avon Heath Country Park, would have a machine capable of creating waves up to 1.8 metres high.
Ben Powis, chief executive of Surfing England, said: "We’re stoked to see the plans coming forward from W H White to bring world class waves and all the physical and mental health benefits of surfing to the south coast.
"We’re seeing wave technology evolve at a rapid pace and it’s going to be amazing to have this cutting edge facility within a country park development that puts Dorset on the world’s surfing map".
People are being asked for their views on the plans.
A public exhibition is being held at St Leonards & St Ives Village Hall on Thursday between 2pm and 8pm.
A planning application is due to be submitted to Dorset Council.
