Pedestrian suffers potential serious injuries in Blandford collision

Police are appealing for information as they investigate the collision in the early hours of Saturday

A pedestrian's sustained potentially serious injuries after being hit by a car in Blandford.

Dorset Police were called to a collision on the A354 Blandford bypass, between the junction of Wimborne Road and the Badger roundabout, at 1:25am on Saturday.

A 20-year-old male pedestrian from Blandford is being treated in hospital, and his next of kin have been informed.

Police say a white Hyundai I20, driven by a woman in her 30s from the Dorchester area, was also involved.

The road was closed whilst emergency services attended the collision.

It has since reopened.

Police Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of Dorset Police's traffic unit, is urging "anyone travelling in the area at the time and witnessed what happened" to get in touch.

"If you have a dashcam fitted to your vehicle, I would ask you to please check for any relevant footage that may assist our enquiries."
