Dorset Council run children's centres in North Dorset are to give out coats to families that need them this winter.

Donations of good quality, pre-loved coats have been taken in sites in Blandford and Shaftesbury in recent weeks, for children aged 0 to 16.

The Council say there's 'been a fantastic response' to the appeal.

Centres will now start giving out the coats to those struggling with the cost of living.

Any families that feel they could benefit can go along to the centres and take a look through the stock, free of charge.

Drop-in sessions are open on Tuesdays (in term time) at:

  • Blandford Children’s Centre, Black Lane, DT11 8SW - between 8.30am and midday
  • Shaftesbury Children’s Centre, Wincombe Lane, SP7 8PZ - between 9am and 4pm

Parents and carers that can't make those times, or want more information can contact Dorset Council, North Locality by emailing northlocality@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk or calling 01258 474036.
