A new escape room in Dorchester is hoping it can diversify Dorchester's nightlife and give you something else to do before or after dinner.

The Great Big Escape is a puzzle game for groups that sees them searching for clues and their answers to make their way out of the room.

It launched earlier this year and it's hoped it can attract more people to Dorchester, who might then stay on for dinner or drinks.

Amy Butterworth is one of the owners. She said:

"Myself and my business partner, we both love Brewery Square, we come here a lot, we go shopping, we go to all the different eateries that are here.

"You go out as a double date and you have dinner and that's it. We wanted to prolong the experience.

"We've got some friends up in Leeds and when we've been out with them we always do an escape room and dinner. We wanted to bring that down here, we just saw a gap in the market and filled it as best we can."

Escape rooms are a relatively new form of entertainment that sprang up in the past decade. Generally, rooms are given a theme - in the Great Big Escape, they have a spy room and a magic-themed room. In most, you'll be looking for clues in all sorts of places too, and you rely on your teammates.

At the Great Big Escape, you have a time limit of 60 minutes to solve all of the clues and make your way out of the room.

Amy added:

"I think it brings a new aspect of activities to do. There are things to do in Dorchester. There's always trails and different things you can do for families and friends, but I think it adds a new experience that people perhaps haven't done before."

"If people have really enjoyed this we can recommend the ones that we've done locally that we've really enjoyed."
