A man in his 20s has died in a crash on the A31 near Wimborne.

He was riding a grey Suzuki motorbike, which collided with a white Nissan Qashqai just before 9.00am this morning (Wednesday 27th November).

The collision happened between the Merley roundabout and Canford Bottom.

The rider's family have been informed.

The A31 was closed for a number of hours for police investigations - but has now reopened.

Officers want to hear from anyone with dash cam footage that could help with enquiries.

Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the Dorset Police traffic unit, said:

“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the young man who very sadly died as a result of this collision.

“We are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam who were travelling in the area to please review their footage for anything of relevance.

“Finally, I appreciate this collision has resulted in the closure of a main road for a period of time and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding. Road closures are necessary to allow first responders to deal with the incident and for a detailed examination of the scene to be conducted.”
