Police in Poole are linking two thefts from cars, within an hour of each other - with one driver threatened with a knife.

The first incident happened on Woodpecker Drive at around 10.00am on Tuesday 30th May.

A man was seen sitting in the front seat of a car that had been left unlocked.

The owner confronted the man, who ran away, but the victim caught up with him and was then threatened with a knife.

The suspect ran away in the direction of Creekmoor Road, but dropped two pairs of sunglasses, which had been taken from the car.

Around an hour later, a man was seen getting into the driver's seat of a car in Tarn Drive, and searching through before walking away.

A member of the public told the owner, who called police and confirmed a pair of sunglasses and a purse were missing.

The offender is described as:

  • White
  • Mid to late 20s
  • Short dark brown hair
  • Tattoo on the back of his neck
  • Wearing dark shorts
  • No top

PC Jasmin Giles, of Poole police, said:

“Our investigations are ongoing and we are making a number of enquiries, including CCTV searches. I am appealing for any further witnesses to either incident or anyone who saw the man described in the area at the relevant time to please come forward.

“Also, I would encourage any residents, who have home CCTV or doorbell cameras, or any motorists with dashcam fitted to their vehicle who were driving in the vicinity to please check for any relevant footage.”
