Man left with eye injury in Bridport assault

It happened in East Street just before midnight on New Year's Eve

A man in his 50s has needed treatment for an eye injury, following an assault outside a Bridport bar in New Year's Eve.

The victim was allegedly attacked outside the Number 10 bar in East Street just before midnight on Saturday (31st December).

A 40 year old man from Halesowen in the West Midlands has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail pending further enquiries.

There's now an appeal for people who might have seen what happened to get in touch with Dorset Police.

Sergeant Anneka Stone said:

“We are investigating this alleged assault and from our enquiries we believe there were a number of people in the vicinity at the relevant time.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened, or who has any information that might assist our investigation, to please contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam to please check their footage for anything of relevance.”
