Man assaulted during Weymouth attempted robbery

Police are investigating an incident on Chickerell Road

A man's been knocked to the floor during an attempted robbery in Weymouth.

The victim, in his 40s, saw a group of five or six people on Chickerell Road, near to Alf's Fish and Chips, at around 9.30pn on Friday evening (20th January).

One of the group punched the man to the side of the head, causing him to fall.

Nothing was taken in the incident.

PC Karam Mander, of Weymouth police, said:

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened, or may have captured anything of relevance on either dashcam or CCTV footage, to please get in touch.

“I understand a woman in a hatchback vehicle stopped to help the victim following the incident and I am really keen to speak to her as she may have important information to help my enquiries.”
