The death of a man in his 60's is still being treated as unexplained
A man arrested on suspicion of murder in Bournemouth has been released on conditional bail.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.07pm on Friday (28 February) of the sudden death of a man aged in his 60s at an address in Redhill Avenue.
It is reported that the man was assaulted outside the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel in East Overcliff at around 1pm on Tuesday (25 February) and enquiries are continuing into this incident.
An investigation was launched by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) and an initial post-mortem examination was carried out on Sunday (2 March). Further tests have been requested to establish the cause of death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
A 46-year-old man from Bournemouth who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on conditional police bail while the investigation continues.
Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of MCIT, said: “Our thoughts continue to remain with the loved ones of the man who sadly died and we are keeping them updated with the latest developments.
“The investigation is still in the early stages and we are going to be continuing our work to establish the cause of the man’s death and whether there is any link to the reported assault.
“I am still urging anyone who was near to the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel at around 1pm on Tuesday 25 February 2025 and saw anything that may assist my enquiries to please come forward.
“The cordon in East Overcliff has now been removed and we would like to thank the public for their understanding while this was in place.
"We would encourage anyone with information or concerns to please speak with their local neighbourhood policing team.”
