A man has been charged by police after a man was left with life-threatening injuries when he was attacked in Bournemouth.
The 67-year-old victim was knocked unconscious in Christchurch Road in Boscombe shortly before 10.00pm on Thursday.
Police said a second man suffered cuts and bruises when he was assaulted and a woman, who tried to intervene, was pushed to the ground.
A 31-year-old man from Bournemouth has now been charged with assault by beating and two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent.
He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 4 July.
Detective Inspector Neil Third, of Dorset Police, said: "Our investigation has very much progressed and is now being conducted by the major crime investigation team.
"I would like to renew our appeal for any witnesses to the incident who have not yet spoken with police to come forward.
"We are now aware that a man and a woman with a small child were in the area at the time.
"I would very much like to speak to them as they may have important information that could assist us."
