Police have recovered a knife after chasing two men in Bournemouth.

At around 12.45pm on Sunday (15 January) officers from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) tried to stop a vehicle in Churchill Gardens in Boscombe.

As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, a man got out and ran in the direction of Palmerston Road.

The man was then seen near a footbridge over the railway off Palmerston Road and was seen in the company of another man.

Both men then made off from officers, heading into Grantham Road and one of them discarded a green hunting knife, which was recovered by police.

The men were believed to have used local gardens to evade officers and at one point it is reported they hid inside a property.

Descriptions

One of the men is described as being white, six feet tall and of slim build with medium length hair. He was wearing a thick Parka-style jacket with a black fur-lined hood and had been wearing sunglasses.

The other man is described as white, five feet eight inches tall and of slim build. He was wearing a blue gilet with a grey jumper underneath.

Operation Viper

Sergeant Cameron Thompson, of the BCP NET, said: “Officers were conducting patrols as part of Operation Viper, our ongoing effort to support local policing teams in the crackdown on those believed to be involved in the supply of class A drugs.

“We have recovered a dangerous weapon and are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the two men involved in this incident.

“I would urge any witnesses to the incident to please contact us and would also urge anyone with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras in the area to please check their footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230007362.
