A unique adventure awaits families this spring with the launch of the Stampede By The Sea Trail, a free and interactive way to explore West Dorset while supporting the work of Weldmar Hospicecare.
The trail brings together creativity, community, and a celebration of the region, with eye-catching sculptures positioned across some of West Dorset’s most beautiful locations. The trail aims to delight visitors of all ages while shining a spotlight on Weldmar Hospicecare’s vital role in providing end-of-life care to local people.
Explore the Trail
The Stampede By The Sea Trail features sculptures inspired by local wildlife and crafted by talented artists, each sponsored by local businesses. These sculptures are placed along a scenic route through West Dorset, taking in coastal vistas, historic towns, and family-friendly attractions.
Each elephant will have scannable QR codes with offers, activities and competitions for attendees to participate in - everything from guessing the number of plankton on an elephant to winning a family pass to Mapperton House!
Matt Smith, Chief Operating Officer commented: “The launch of our incredible trail is just 10 weeks away and we’re incredibly excited to see the elephants taking shape, and the offers, activities and competitions that our amazing sponsors are putting together for their sculptures. From baby elephants in shop windows, to elephants looking out over the sea, this is set to be a fantastic way for locals and visitors to get out and about and explore beautiful West Dorset for free this spring!
"Not only does this trail support and raise vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, it brings art to life in our coastal community and is a wonderful way to showcase a diverse range of artists.
"We encourage locals and visitors to follow the trail, find the elephants and support our local charity.”
