Dorset Police staff complete cycle challenge for fallen colleagues
The 185 mile Unity Tour is in memory of officers killed in the line of duty
Officers and staff from Dorset Police have completed a 185-mile cycle ride, in memory of police officers who have died in the line of duty.
Over the course of four days - starting on Friday (26th July), the force's team were in the saddle for a total of 19 hours and 21 minutes, actually covering 265 miles in total, adding in the distance from Dorset to the start of the Tour.
The riders made their way to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire – arriving on Sunday (28th July), where a special commemoration ceremony was held attended by officers and staff from police forces across the UK.
The cyclists also raise money for charity Care of Police Survivors (COPS) which provides support to injured officers as well as to the families of loved ones who are left behind following the death of an on-duty serving police family member.
Dorset’s fundraising total came to £11,961, with each rider also given a medal to mark their involvement.
