Dorset's Lord Lieutenant Angus Campbell retires
He's been the Sovereign's representative in the county since 2014
After 10 years as Dorset’s Lord-Lieutenant, the Sovereign’s representative in the county, Angus Campbell CVO has retired.
He first served Her Majesty the Queen, whom he welcomed to Dorset on two occasions, as well as most members of the Royal Family visiting here on a total of 43 occasions over the last decade.
He's also supported numerous charitable organisations as patron, and presented many with The Queen’s, and latterly The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, as well as several businesses with The Queen’s/King’s Award for Enterprise.
He has also presented the MBE and BEM to Dorset citizens.
Mr Campbell also launched the Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund for the Young and Talented through Dorset Community Foundation, which supports young people with a talent in sport to have the opportunity to excel in their field, some to Olympic standard.
Prior to his political career, he served for many years in the Army Air Corps before he became the Leader for North Dorset District Council, and later Leader of Dorset County Council.
He was Chair of the Dorset Olympic Board and of the Strategic Leaders Board for the South West and has been a Governor of several schools in the county.

“His departure leaves behind a legacy of excellence, compassion, and unwavering dedication to community service.
“We thank him for his outstanding service to his beloved county of Dorset, and we wish him a long and happy retirement.”
Mr Campbell says he's looking forward to spending more time with his family and the time to pursue his many other interests.
