New signs have been installed at play areas across Weymouth to raise awareness of British Sign Language (BSL).

The boards include basic signs to copy about the weather, friendships and manners, to help families.

They've been put in by the Town Council to 'provide a bridge between the Deaf and hearing people'.

We can now find them at play areas in Melcombe Regis, Radipole Gardens, Lodmoor Country Park and Louviers Road.

Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Kate Wheller said:

“I am extremely happy that these BSL boards were put forward to be installed at play areas across Weymouth. They will provide those within the deaf community a chance to educate others creating an inclusive accessible area.”

Autism communication boards will also be added later in the summer, to further help improve accessibility.
