The demolition of the former Bridport Training Centre in Flood Lane will be allowed to go ahead.

The Dorset Council-owned building is said to pose a ‘significant health and safety risk’ after being broken into and vandalised.

Dorset Council planning officers have not objected to the authority’s proposal to take down the timber framed building along with a 1980s masonry extension and an associated garage.

Said a council planning document: “The site has remained vacant for a number of years while terms of the sale are to be agreed. It poses significant health and safety risks.

"It has been targeted by vandals and trespassers numerous times, who have completely torn apart the internal structure, making holes in the roof and floors and littering debris all around the site itself.”
