Two commercial premises in a North Dorset town have been broken into within the space of an hour.

Dorset Police was called at around 12.30am on Tuesday (2 November) to a report of a break-in at The Slade Centre in The Square.

While at the scene, a further report was received at around 1.12am of an attempted burglary at a fish and chip shop in High Street.

A search of the area was conducted and following enquiries, a 38-year-old man from Gillingham, a 41-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman – both from Bournemouth – were arrested on suspicion of burglary. They have all been released on police bail while the investigation continues.

Police Constable George Nash, of Dorset Police, said: “Following the swift attendance by officers to the scene, three people have been arrested in connection with the reports.

“We recognise the impact that these type of incidents have on the community and we are committed to identifying those suspected to be involved.”
