A Bournemouth man's been jailed for 26 weeks for breaching his criminal behaviour order (CBO), following multiple shoplifting convictions.

51 year old Adrian Lashley had been banned from every Tesco and Co-Op store in Dorset, along with any other stores he'd been barred from previously and not to remain in any shop, business or hospitality venue if he was asked to leave.

Lashley appeared at Poole Magistrates Court on February 12th, and his CBO was extended for a further 18 months, following an additional 18 counts of theft between December 2023 and February 2024.

A week later, on 19th February, Lashley went into the Co-Op on Christchurch Road in Bournemouth and tried to conceal items from the shelves within the dressing gown he was wearing.

He tried to leave the store without paying.

Officers arrested him after recognising Lashley and knowing the conditions of his CBO, and he was charged with shoplifting and breaching the CBO.

PC Joanne Morgan, of Bournemouth East NPT, said:

“We recognise the impact that shoplifting has on business owners in our communities. Therefore, we are committed to doing all we can to bring prolific shoplifters to justice.

“We will continue to take action against shoplifters such as Adrian Lashley and we would urge members of the public who witness acts of shoplifting in their area to please report it to us at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101.”
