A Bournemouth Foodbank have issued a plea for donations in the form of a reverse advent calendar.

The Trussell Trust branch are asking people in Dorset to put aside an item a day up until Christmas that could go to a family in need.

This comes as a spokesperson Danni Malone from the Trussell Trust told us more people are needing support from the food bank, but they are receiving less donations.

The Bournemouth Branch, however, hope this imitative will help reverse this current situation and get them more donations.

They said: "With the unprecedented fuel, energy and food prices we are currently experiencing, this is a great way to ensure the people in our community don’t go hungry or at least don’t have to choose between being warm or having a decent meal.

"The situation is dire, but that doesn’t mean everything is lost. We know many of you will come to the rescue with your generous donations."

Bournemouth Foodbank set out specific festive instructions for those looking to take part.

Instructions:

1- Set aside each item every day. (Note that you can start whenever you want)

2- Collect the monetary donation separately.

3- At the end of the calendar, call the Bournemouth Foodbank to arrange the delivery to our warehouse before the 15th of December

More information on the reverse advent calendar can be found on their website.
