For the first time in seven years, there's a chance for people to apply to rent a beach hut on Bournemouth seafront.

BCP Council is reopening the waiting lists, which have always been oversubscribed.

As the number of people on the lists has fallen since they were closed in 2017, applications for eight locations will be accepted again.

They'll be staggered openings to help manage demand, and will be capped at 500 applications.

The waiting list opening dates are:

• Monday 8th July - Bournemouth East and Bournemouth West waiting lists

• Wednesday 10th July - Boscombe East and Boscombe West Waiting Lists

• Monday 15th July - Alum Chine and Durley Chine Waiting Lists

• Wednesday 17th July - Fisherman’s Walk and Southbourne Waiting Lists

BCP Council’s Head of Seafront Services Anthony Rogers said:

“We are pleased to be reopening the beach hut waiting lists in Bournemouth for the first time in seven years.

“Our new management system aims to ensure an enhanced and consistent service for all residents.”

The cost to join each list is £50.
