Blandford families given free Christmas party
Housing association Sovereign and the Town Council put it together
Around 200 people have been along to a free Christmas show in Blandford.
Local housing association Sovereign and Blandford Forum Town Council arranged it, with £1,600 donated by Sovereign towards it.
Families packed into the Corn Exchange for entertainment by Jamie Jigsaw, Krazy Kev and DJ Phil from Get Up and Groove!
It was also a chance for agencies to speak to households about the support available during the cost of living crisis.
Sovereign’s Community Development Officer Kate Sheppard, who worked with the council on the show, said:
“Many of us are looking forward to the Christmas season but on a tighter budget, with some festive activities looking less affordable this year. And that’s why we joined forces with Blandford Forum Town Council, to offer local families a completely free Christmas show.
“Tickets sold out instantly, so we immediately added more as we wanted Blandford families to enjoy themselves, without the worry of how much it’s going to cost.”
Linda Scott-Giles from Blandford Forum Town Council said:
“Thanks to funding from Sovereign, the Town Council was able to organise and host this event at no cost to residents. Volunteers from Blandford Opportunity Group, the Mayor’s Charity, provided refreshments at affordable prices and a great time was had by all.”
