Adult community education in Dorset rated 'good' by Ofsted
The service is run jointly by Dorset and BCP Councils
The Skills & Learning service, that provides adult community education across Dorset, has been rated as 'good' by Ofsted.
Inspectors have looked at the service, which has been run jointly by Dorset and BCP Councils for the last 10 years.
A report from Ofsted says they provide 'high-quality and inclusive education and training to disadvantaged adults and young people, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)', suggesting 'learners are enjoying new skills and are motivated to learn'.
The service provides over 300 courses in over 100 subject areas across more than 30 centres throughout Dorset.
Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for Children and Young People at BCP Council, said:
“I congratulate the Skills & Learning team providing adult community education on achieving a GOOD Ofsted inspection outcome. The service was inspected under a new education inspection framework which focuses on the skills and knowledge that learners have attained. The report highlights the dedication and commitment of the team to provide the best outcomes for the young people and adults who learn with them. I am delighted that this has been recognised by Ofsted.”
Councillor Byron Quayle, portfolio holder for People, Children, Education, Skills and Early Help at Dorset Council, said:
"Congratulations to the Skills & Learning team for their GOOD Ofsted inspection results, which recognises their dedication to providing quality education for both young people and adults."
