Police were called to a Dorset beauty spot after reports of a gathering involving around 100 people.

Officers investigated after a large number of vehicles blocked the road around Hardy's Monument yesterday. (13 November)

Residents living nearby reported noise disturbance from young people playing loud music.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said during the incident:

"We have responded to the concerns of residents and are taking proactive action to liaise with those present and ensure their departure from the site.

"Due to a significant number of vehicles involved, this may take some time and we appreciate the patience and understanding of members of the public during this period."

They later updated their social media post to say:

"There are now just a very few vehicles left at the location. Officers are remaining on site to ensure these last vehicles also depart.

"We would again like to thank members of the public for their understanding as we responded to this matter."
