Police have arrested a fourth man in connection with the murder of Raad Asmael, who was shot dead in Edgbaston last month.

A 21-year-old man was arrested last night on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remains in custody for questioning.

Raad, aged 27, was sadly pronounced dead after he was shot inside a car in Rotton Park Road at the junction of City Road in Edgbaston just before 11pm on 22 November.

A 24-year-old man was previously arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, along with two other men, aged 25 and 31, who were held on suspicion of assisting an offender. The three men have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

As part of the investigation police have carried out various searches and have recovered a firearm from an address. Following further examination, the firearm is not linked to the murder.

Det Ch Insp Laura Harrison said today: “Our investigation continues to progress, and we have kept Raad's family up to date with the news of the arrests.

"It is still really important that we hear from anyone with information about what might have happened or why.

"We want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who may have dashcam footage."
