A man has been sentenced to more than ten years in jail for a string of online child sexual abuse offences.

Joshua Smith, from Dudley, was jailed for 11 years at Wolverhampton Crown Court last week.

Police say they received intelligence that Smith uploaded indecent images of girls between five and ten years old to the internet.

After searching his house, officers arrested him on suspicion of possession of indecent images of children.

All of his digital devices were seized.

Following an investigation, Smith, aged 27, was charged with 19 offences including making indecent photographs of a child, inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity and engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Detective constable Elaine Reading, who led the investigation, said: “Smith’s behaviour was predatory and he exploited young people for his own gratification.

“I hope that this sentence brings some closure for all of those affected by Smith’s actions, and that they can move forward with their lives.”
