A man from Birmingham has been jailed for eight and a half years for firearms and drugs offences.

A firearms warrant was carried out by West Midlands Police officers at the home of Jelani Selassie in September last year.

Officers searching the property on Lees Street in Winson Green found three loaded firearms hidden inside the lining of the 34-year-old's bed.

They also found ammunition, cash, over £3,000-worth of cannabis and £15,000-worth of cocaine.

Selassie pleaded guilty on 5 March to three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon (six years for each offence to run concurrently), possession of ammunition (two years concurrent), possession with intent to class B drugs (12 months concurrent) and possession with intent to supply class A drugs (two and a half years consecutive).

He was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday (9 May).
