Birmingham campaigners call for action on reckless drivers
It's after two fatalities on the roads.
Campaigners in Birmingham are gathering today to step up calls for action on Birmingham roads.
The protest is taking place at the junction of Yardley Wood Road and Wake Green Road.
Residents there say they feel plagued by reckless drivers.
It comes after two fatalities have happened this week, including the death of a four-year-old girl.
Matt Macdonald is from Better Streets for Birmingham, who are leading the protest, he said: "Local schools are constantly fearful that one of their pupils could be seriously injured or worst.
"Residents in this area are sick of the noise, the disruption and the endless damage to their properties caused by these activities.
"In an area today, there's now multiple speed racing and collisions. By joining in with out action people can help that politicians of all stripes, councillors can sit and listen and mean it.
"Together we're going to be calling for measures to calm traffic, better protect the most vulnerable road users and to ensure that reckless drivers are removed from our streets and face lengthy bans for the dangers that they cause."
The protest starts at 2:30pm.
